These Terms are the contract for an OpenFeed account. House rules are community standards and are part of this contract. Privacy describes how we process personal data; it is not part of this contract.
Until the effective date, accounts created under earlier Terms remain under those Terms for the points this version changes. From 10 October 2026, this document applies to all accounts.
English only for now. This English text is the operative contract.
The operator of OpenFeed, and the party to this contract, is:
These Terms apply to the service at openfeed.eu.
Until the KVK number and registered address are available, you can still contact us at the addresses above.
These Terms govern use of an OpenFeed account. By creating an account you agree to them. The English text on this page is the operative text.
The House rules are incorporated into this contract by reference. If you break the House rules, you break these Terms. A space may publish its own local rules; those add norms on top of the House rules. They cannot permit what the House rules or these Terms forbid.
Privacy explains which personal data we process, why, and for how long. It is a legal notice, not a set of contract terms. Agreeing to these Terms is not a separate consent tick for Privacy.
People who read public posts without an account are not parties to this contract. Use of the site, including reading as a guest, is permitted only in line with the House rules. We may block access that breaks those rules.
Posting, following, joining a space, messaging, and reporting require an account.
OpenFeed is a Dutch/EU microblogging service: chronological feeds, spaces, optional time-to-live on posts, no advertising, and no sale of personal data.
Today we do not process payments. We may introduce paid features later. Existing free accounts will not be charged retroactively for the service they already used.
Home is chronological by default. You may choose other Home views described in the product and in Privacy. Ranking is not an ad and is not based on a behavioural profile of how you use the app.
We do not promise uninterrupted availability. The service may change, pause, or stop (see §8).
You must be 16 or older. You confirm that when you register. We do not verify age with identity documents or biometrics.
Keep access to the email address on the account. You can sign in with a password or a magic link, and optionally an authenticator app.
Confirm the email we sent when you registered. The sign-in link expires in 15 minutes; you can request a new one from the sign-in page. If you do not confirm within 72 hours of registration, we remove the incomplete account (profile and handle). We send a reminder after 24 hours and a warning after 48 hours, with instructions to request a new link; those messages do not contain a new sign-in link.
You are responsible for activity on your account. Do not share sign-in details. If you lose access, use the in-product recovery paths where they exist, or email hello@openfeed.eu.
You can export or delete your account in Settings. Deletion follows the process described in Privacy: the account is hidden immediately; you have 14 days to cancel; then we erase personal data. At deletion you choose whether public posts are anonymised or deleted. Posts in private spaces are always deleted.
If you are a parent or guardian and you believe a child under 16 has an account, email privacy@openfeed.eu. We will close the account and erase the associated data.
You keep the intellectual property in the posts, photos, poll options, ALT text, profile text, and other material you post, as far as the law gives you those rights. You are responsible for what you post, including that you have the right to post it. You may edit your own posts (text, photos, and ALT) after posting; each edit shows a visible “edited” marker with the time of the last change. We do not keep a full history of earlier text.
You grant MEXXUS a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to:
We do not use this licence to advertise, to sell your content or your data, or to sublicence it to someone else for their own purposes. Processors who help us run the service (named in Privacy) may handle the content only to provide that help.
The licence ends when the content is deleted, expires by TTL, or is erased with your account, except:
Deleting a public post with us does not remove screenshots, search-engine copies, or copies other people already made off the platform.
If a source post is deleted or expires by TTL, reposts of it no longer amplify it in feeds. A quote of it may remain as the quoter’s own post, with a “no longer available” marker and without the original body.
OpenFeed’s name, design, software, and documentation remain ours. You may use the service; you do not get those rights.
Conduct, reporting, ignore and block, sensitive marks, space admins, closing a space, retention caps, and direct messages are set out in the House rules. Those rules apply on Public and in every space, including private ones.
Posts in a private space stay in that space. They are not on the open timeline and cannot be reposted or quoted out.
If the last admin of a space deletes their account, succession follows the House rules.
We may hide a post after an automated check (including when you edit a post) or after a report and a human review. When we hide a post we tell the author why in the app, without naming who reported it.
We may rate-limit accounts that harm the service or other people.
For serious or repeated breach of these Terms or the House rules, or for illegal content, we may suspend or terminate an account. Account-level measures are always a manual decision by a person. They are never taken automatically from classification scores or from a moderation penalty counter. The product does not currently offer a public ban UI; that does not waive this right.
Signed-in people can report a post or a profile in the app. Anyone can email dsa@openfeed.eu. Reports are reviewed by a person. You get an on-screen confirmation that we received an in-app report; we do not run a case-progress inbox or promise a further reply on every report.
We are a micro-enterprise and therefore exempt from Digital Services Act Chapter III Section 3. There is no trusted-flagger channel, no internal appeals body, and no designated out-of-court dispute settlement body.
Reporting in the app or by email is not a substitute for contacting the police where a crime is involved.
We may change features, pause registration, or interrupt the service. We do not promise a particular uptime.
We may stop the service. We will give at least 30 days’ notice before shutdown, during which export in Settings stays available. After shutdown we cannot keep providing the account.
We make backups to restore the platform in an emergency, on the schedule and retention stated in Privacy. We do not guarantee durability or recovery of individual posts or accounts. You can export your data in Settings while the service runs.
To the extent Dutch law allows: we are not liable for indirect or consequential damage (including loss of profit, loss of data, and reputational damage). Our liability for direct damage is limited to the total amount you paid us for OpenFeed in the 12 months before the claim (if you paid nothing, that amount is €0). Nothing in these Terms limits liability where Dutch law does not allow that, including liability for intent or gross negligence, mandatory consumer protections, and compensation under GDPR Article 82.
We are not responsible for copies of public posts that other people make outside our systems, or for websites you link to.
We may amend these Terms. For substantive changes we will inform you in a clear way (for example an in-app notice) with at least 30 days’ notice. The version and the published and effective dates at the top of this document identify the current Terms.
If you do not agree to a change, you may delete your account. Continuing to use the account after a change takes effect means you agree to the new Terms, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections.
A change to the House rules is a change to this contract, because those rules are incorporated. Privacy has its own change process.
You agree in advance that we may transfer this contract to an affiliated or successor entity (for example if the business is registered or reorganised), with notice to you and a right to delete your account. That is contractoverneming under Dutch law with the cooperation given here. We will not transfer the contract in a way that reduces mandatory consumer protections that apply to you.
You may not scrape, crawl, or bulk-collect the service, or use unofficial bots or automation that burden the site or bypass rate limits. We may block such access.
There is no public API today. Ordinary use of a web browser, or of feed pages the product already shows, is permitted.
If you suggest a feature or send product feedback, you grant us a licence to use that suggestion without an intellectual-property claim from you. You still keep any rights you already had in work that is not the suggestion itself.
If a court finds a part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest stays in force. The unenforceable part is replaced by what comes closest to the original meaning and is allowed by law.
These Terms are governed by Dutch law. Courts in Amsterdam have jurisdiction, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections, including any right you have to bring proceedings in the courts of the EU member state where you live.
